Electric Vehicles Sales Touches 4 Million Units – All Thanks To China

The future of electric vehicles (EV) looks bright with cumulative global EV sales touching 4 million on August 30, 2018.

Few interesting points from Bloomberg NEF report on EV:

  • In June 2018, cumulative global EV sales hit 3.5 million mark
  • China is responsible for around 37% of passenger EVs sold around the world since 2011
  • China is responsible for about 99% of the e-buses sold around the world since 2011

With governments support to electric vehicle makers and buyers, China will continue to dominate the EV market. India is also trying to follow the footsteps of China by implementing a new clean energy policy to promote the electric vehicles. Europe has also proposed strict emissions guidelines and mandated that by 2025 EV should be at-least 20% of total sales.
